The UFC and show producers continue to tease fans with the possibility that Kimbo could return to the tournament after getting humbled by Roy Nelson in his fist and only scrap, and have maintained that positioning with today’s announcement as they haven’t confirmed who he will be facing.

It isn’t certain if he’ll be fighting for the six-figure contract as a substitute, or if he’s going to be facing Houston Alexander in a catchweight bout of 215-pounds. Let’s not kid ourselves, it’s most likely the later of the two.

“The Assassin” last competed for Adrenaline MMA where he TKO’d Sherman Pendergarst, earning his first victory in his last four fights.

Kimbo hasn’t fought in an official MMA bout since losing to Seth Petruzelli at “EliteXC: Heat” over a year ago.

Here are the fighters rumored to be participating in the night’s show:

Preliminary Bouts:

Rousimar Palhares vs. Lucio Linhares
Mark Bocek vs. Joe Brammer
Rodney Wallace vs. Brian Stann
Dennis Hallman and John Howard

Main Bouts:

Forrest Griffin edged Tito Ortiz by split decision on Saturday in the main event of UFC 106 in Las Vegas, using a dominant third round to even their career series at 1-1 in the pay-per-view headliner.

The first two rounds between the pair were close, as Ortiz wrestled Griffin to the ground several times and unloaded ground and pound while Forrest connected with punches and kicks on the feet, but Griffin dominated the third, battering Ortiz with strikes to earn the split decision with scores of 28-29, 30-27, and 29-28.

Griffin snaps a two-fight losord his ing streak and improves to 17-6 with the win, while the returning Ortiz, fighting for the first time in 18-months, falls to 15-7-1 after failing to record his first victory since 2006.

Excuses were aplenty after the bout, as Griffin said a broken foot hampered his performance in the fight, while Ortiz said his training was limited due to bulging discs in his surgically-repaired back as well as a facial fracture that resulted in a noticeable black eye.

The narrow decision and satisfying action means a rubber match between the former light heavyweight champions is likely, and both fighters indicated after the matchup that they were open to meeting again.

In the UFC 106 co-headliner, welterweight contender Josh Koscheck resorted to his wrestling to take out knockout artist Anthony Johnson, recovering from an illegal knee and powerful combination suffered in the first to force Johnson to tap to a rear naked choke late in the second round.

After the win, Koscheck, improving to 14-4 with his second-straight win, called out upcoming welterweight challenger Dan Hardy and plead for a rematch with title-holder Georges St-Pierre. Johnson falls to 8-3 and has his three-fight win streak snapped in the loss.

Also on the UFC 106 main card, Paulo Thiago grinded out a unanimous decision over newcomer Jacob Volkmann, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira made his UFC debut with a first-round knockout of Luiz Cane, and Amir Sadollah battered a return Phil Baroni en route to a unanimous decision victory.

In preliminary card action, Ben Saunders picked up a first-round knockout of Marcus Davis, Kendall Grove forced Jake Rosholt to tap to an opening-round triangle choke, Brian Foster recovered from two illegal strikes to take out Brock Larson via second-round TKO, Fabricio Camoes and Caol Uno fought to a majority draw after Camoes lost a point, and George Sotiropoulos submitted Jason Dent with an armbar in the night’s first fight.

The official results for UFC 106 were:

* Forrest Griffin def. Tito Ortiz via split decision (28-29, 30-27, 29-28)
* Josh Koscheck def. Anthony Johnson via submission (rear naked choke) — Round 2, 4:47
* Paulo Thiago def. Jacob Volkmann via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)
* Antonio Rogerio Nogueira def. Luiz Cane via TKO (strikes) – Round 1, 1:56
* Amir Sadollah def. Phil Baroni via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
* Ben Saunders def. Marcus Davis via KO (knee) – Round 1, 3:24
* Kendall Grove def. Jake Rosholt via submission (triangle choke) – Round 1, 3:59
* Brian Foster def. Brock Larson via TKO (strikes) — Round 2, 3:25
* Fabricio Camoes vs. Caol Uno – majority draw (29-27 28-28 28-28)
* George Sotiropoulos def. Jason Dent via submission (armbar) – Round 2, 4:36

“I thought I won the fight. I thought I pulled it off two rounds to one. I came in and thought I won the fight.I came in and put up a fight. I put my heart and soul in that cage every time I fight. I thought I won the fight. I thought I won. I thought I won. I thought I won the first round and I thought I won the second round. I got two takedowns and you see the damage on his face. I got him good. In the third round I was gassed, but after taking 18 months off, I want to see another fighter come in here and get back surgery and do what I did. I gave my heart and soul, man. I entertained the fans. And for me not getting the “Fight of the Night,” I’m taken back by it, but it is what it is. I thought I won. The judge called it 30-27, I mean what the f***, are you blind or something? But it is what it is. I’ll be back. I feel good. I’m sorry I let my fans down. I thought I won.

I want to put on a great show. After taking 18 months off and coming back and doing something like that, it hurts losing. When you feel like you won a fight, it hurts losing. Letting my fans down knowing I gave my heart and soul to be robbed like that. I’ll be back”

Tito Ortiz’s post comments after losing a split decision to Forrest Griffin at UFC 106. Rather surprising, considering after their fight before the decision was announced you could hear a disappointed Tito telling Forrest “I had nothing on you, man”.

FC president Dana White has just Tweeted that welterweight Karo Parisyan will be pulling out of his fight just moments before showtime … again. An irritated White stated that the Armenian will never again see the inside of an Octagon.

<img src="http://fightburger.com/wp-content/uploads//karoParisyan.jpg" alt="karo Parisyan" UFC president Dana White has just Tweeted that welterweight Karo Parisyan will be pulling out of his fight just moments before showtime … again. An irritated White stated that the Armenian will never again see the inside of an Octagon.

“Karo Parisyan has [expletive] over the UFC, the fans and his opponent again!!! He will not be fighting saturday or ever again in the UFC!!,” White Tweeted. “Pulled out of the fight the day before weigh ins again with a laundry list of excuses!!! Let the press ask karo why! Let him explain.”

Parisyan was slated to take on Dustin Hazelett at UFC 106 this weekend inside the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. White later stated that Hazelett will be awarded his entire purse + win bonus, so today’s news wasn’t too bad for the submission specialist.

Following his UFC 94 “win” over Dong Hyun Kim, the Nevada State Commission suspended Parisyan for nine months, fined him a total of $32,000, and overturned his split decision W to a No Decision after it was revealed that he had three banned pain killers in his system.

Parisyan also ran into trouble at UFC 88 back in September 2008 when he was a last-minute scratch against Yoshiyuki Yoshida because of a back injury. Shortly after, the Armenian went public regarding issues with panic attacks.

Parisyan is once again pointing fingers as to why he can’t participate in Saturday’s event inside the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas, however his word doesn’t carry as much weight as it used to.

“There’s a lot of problems going on. They won’t re-license me unless I (expletive) pay them,” Parisyan told MMAWeekly.com. “I had to pay the $32,000 fine in order to fight. I never paid because I never had the money. I don’t know if I’ll be able to come back.”

Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Keith Kizer refutes the Armenian’s explanation as to why he won’t be on the pay-per-view broadcast.

The exact reason why Parisyan exited stage-left remains unknown, however if you were to read between the lines, the writing is all over the wall.

“Everything is over bro. I’m just going to go home. Everything is (expletive) up. I’ve got to think about what I’m going to do for my career,” Parisyan added. “I’ve got to think about what I want to do as far as fighting goes.”

Here is a recap on this Saturday’s fight schedule:

Preliminary Bouts:

Brock Larson and Brian Foster
Jason Dent vs. George Sotiropoulos
Fabricio Camoes vs. Caol Uno

Spike TV (9PM ET/6PM PT)

Kendall Grove vs. Jake Rosholt
Marcus Davis vs. Ben Saunders

Main Bouts:

Paulo Thiago vs. Jacob Volkmann
Phil Baroni vs. Amir Sadollah
Luiz Cane vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
Josh Koscheck vs. Anthony Johnson
Forrest Griffin vs. Tito Ortiz

Machida retained the 205-pound title with a controversial unanimous decision win over Rua in their first meeting at UFC 104 in October.

Machida (16-0) has remained undefeated with eight-straight UFC victories, including wins over Tito Ortiz, Thiago Silva, and then title-holder Rashad Evans.

A PRIDE veteran, Rua (18-4) was upset by Forrest Griffin in his UFC debut in 2007 but rebounded with back-to-back wins over Mark Coleman and Chuck Liddell before falling to Machida in a bout most observers scored in Shogun’s favor.

The rematch was expected to take place in January at UFC 108, but was postponed after Machida underwent surgery to repair a hand injury suffered in his October “win”.

Although it still wasn’t made public what UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar had fallen ill from, company president Dana White just Tweeted that Lesnar has undergone “minor surgery,” however his condition remains uncertain.

“Leaving bismarck ND right now. Brock had minor surgery and is feeling better,” White Tweeted. “Not 100% sure he is out of the woods but feeling better.”

Earlier today, Greg Nelson, Lesnar’s head coach and owner of Minnesota Mixed Martial Arts, confirmed with MMAWeekly.com that Lesnar did indeed have a bacterial infection in his intestinal tract, however things were looking up.

“He should be home soon,” Nelson texed the website.

Word broke late last month that Lesnar would be forced out of his UFC 106 bout against Shane Carwin due to an undisclosed illness. Early reports claimed that Lesnar was bedridden for over a month, however was starting to get a little better as the UFC re-scheduled his title defense for UFC 108 on January 2nd.

Unfortunately, it was later revealed that Lesnar was diagnosed with mononucleosis and wouldn’t be able to make the January 2nd date.

Lesnar’s condition worsened after he collapsed last week in Canada, where it was revealed that he had contracted the intestinal infection. The 32-year-old has been hospitalized in North Dakota since, where it appears White was today.

Belfort earned his title shot with a knockout of former middleweight champion Rich Franklin in a September catch weight bout, which also marked his return to the promotion.

Silva last defended his middleweight belt against Thales Leites at UFC 97 last April. His last fight, however, was an August first round destruction of Forrest Griffin in a light heavyweight bout.

“I am sure most of you know I am not the leader of the Lesnar Fan Club. That being said, antics or not, he is OUR UFC HWT Champion. He beat a future Hall of Famer to keep that belt and he NEEDS our prayers and good thoughts right now.

At the end of the day I can take off my UFC shirt and say here is a man, a Champion that has been brought down by an illness not another man. It is very humbling if you think about it.

Brock has a wife, kid, and friends that depend on him to make their lives better. You do not have to support Brock and his antics but you should have respect for the human side of what is happening here.

This is not a ploy to sell more tickets, he is the biggest draw this sport has ever had. This is not him ducking me or any other fighter. This is about a man who is fighting an illness for his career, family and friends.

Talk of stripping a man of his title due to illness will set this sport back farther then anything Brock has ever said. We need our Champions healthy and defending. I know the show will go on but to be a Champion you must beat a Champion.

My family and I send our thoughts and well wishes to Brock’s family, friends and training partners. We are indeed keeping you in our thoughts.

If you sit around bashing Brock or making fun of this because of his antics you might be the very same thing you despise. As an MMA fan, as a human be concerned that one of OUR OWN has fallen and needs our support.

Get well soon UFC Heavyweight Champ Brock Lesnar.”
