Former UFC middleweight title contender Thales Leites (pictured) has been released by the Ultimate Fighting Championship. This will be the second the fighter who competed on the UFC 101 card, the first to go was Tandem McCory.Fightburger learned of Leites’ release from sources close to the Brazilian fighter.
Leites, who just lost a controversial decision to Italian fighter Alessio Sakara at UFC 101, was giving his walking papers after this fight.
This will be his second consecutive loss inside the Octagon. His previous loss before Sakara, was via a unanimous decision against current middleweight champ; Anderson Silva. The fight was a very lacklustre performance by Thales which consisted of him mainly trying to lie on the ground and get Silva to follow him there, I assume so they could curl up and go to sleep like the fans the watching their fight.
I imagine now, the Brazilian Bjj specialist will ether head to Strikeforce, Japan or start advertising his fight highlights as sleeping supplements for people with insomnia.
